Overview of Maa Chandraghanta
In ancient times there was a long war between the Devas and the Asuras. The lord of the asuras was Mahishasura and the lord of the deities was Lord Indra Dev. Mahishasura conquered the devatalok and got the throne of Indra and started ruling the heaven. Seeing this, all the gods and goddesses got worried and went to the trinity.
The gods told that Mahishasura has taken away all the rights of other gods including Indra, Surya, Chandra and Vayu and the gods are wandering on the earth. Brahma, Vishnu and Lord Shiva became very angry after listening to the deities. Due to anger, energy was generated from the mouths of the three gods and the energy that came out of the bodies of the deities also got mixed in that energy.
Mother Bhagwati was descended from this energy after pervading in ten directions. Lord Shankar presented his Trishul to the Goddess. Lord Vishnu also presented her with a Chakra. In the same way all the gods punished the mother by giving her weapons. Indra also presented his Vajra and Airavat to the elephant mother. Surya provided his blaze, sword and lion for the ride. Goddess Chandraghanta killed a demon named Mahishasura in the battlefield.

जय माँ चन्द्रघण्टा सुख धाम।
पूर्ण कीजो मेरे काम॥
चन्द्र समाज तू शीतल दाती।
चन्द्र तेज किरणों में समाती॥
मन की मालक मन भाती हो।
चन्द्रघण्टा तुम वर दाती हो॥
सुन्दर भाव को लाने वाली।
हर संकट में बचाने वाली॥
हर बुधवार को तुझे ध्याये।
श्रद्दा सहित तो विनय सुनाए॥
मूर्ति चन्द्र आकार बनाए।
सन्मुख घी की ज्योत जलाएं॥
शीश झुका कहे मन की बाता।
पूर्ण आस करो जगत दाता॥
कांचीपुर स्थान तुम्हारा।
कर्नाटिका में मान तुम्हारा॥
नाम तेरा रटू महारानी।
भक्त की रक्षा करो भवानी॥
