Ambedkar’s full name was Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, but at some places the name Bhimrao Ambedkar is also used. His fans call him by the name of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891. Bhimrao Ambedkar received doctorate degrees in economics from Columbia University and the London School of Economics, from which you can guess his intangible genius.

Ambedkar’s entire life was devoted to the reform of the Indian society. Through public movements and processions, he also fought for the untouchables to get the right to enter the temples, along with opening the public resources of drinking water to all the people of the society.
Ambedkar believed that education would contribute significantly to the betterment of the untouchables. He always inspired his followers to reach higher in the field of knowledge. Education makes a person aware of his self-respect and helps him to reach towards a better material life. Ambedkar has criticized the British education policy that it did not promote education properly among the lower castes.He felt that even under the British rule, the monopoly of the upper castes on education continued. So he mobilized the lower castes and untouchables and founded many centers of learning. Ambedkar wanted to provide liberal education and technical education to the untouchables. He was opposed to imparting education with religious co-operation. He cautioned that only secular education can instill the values of liberty and equality in the students.
